Irvine Animal Care Center Launches Orange County ‘Humane Kids’ Contest

5/2/2011

The City of Irvine Animal Care Center is hosting the first-ever Orange County "Humane Kids" essay contest, open to all Orange County students, grades 1-12. Students should submit a 300-word personal statement detailing what actions they have taken to make a positive impact toward animal welfare.

The contest is comprised of two categories, grades 1-6 and grades 7-12. At the conclusion of the contest, one winner from each category will be named one of Orange County's “Humane Kids.” Contest sponsor Boomers! Irvine will also provide each winner with a four-hour play pass for unlimited attractions. Selected runners-up will each receive a round of miniature golf. Contest winners will be announced at the Irvine Animal Care Center’s Super Pet Adoption event on June 11.

Entries will be accepted from May 1-31 and must include a completed application and personal statement. Applications and official rules are available online at irvineshelter.org or in person at the Irvine Animal Care Center, located at 6443 Oak Canyon Road, Irvine.
