Irvine Officers Go Over $5,000 and “The Edge” for Special Olympics!

10/31/2011

Saturday morning, “Edgers” as they are called, Lieutenant Mike Hallinan, Detective Arthur Guo and Reserve Officer Gary Ross participated in, “Over the Edge”, a Special Olympics event being held at the Long Beach Hyatt.

Lieutenant Hallinan, in an effort to raise more money (and a few eyebrows), staged a publicity stunt and the Irvine Civic Center where he introduced a Chicken Suit into the equation.   The increased media attention boosted his contributions catching him up to Reserve Officer Ross who had already collected over $2,000 in donations.   The trio combined raised $5,501 during the weeks leading up to the event.

Over 100 other “Edgers” each raised a minimum of $1000 to secure their chance to rappel off of the 16-story hotel near the Los Angeles Harbor. Proceeds from the event will benefit local Special Olympians.
