Chief Maggard Swears in Officer Christopher King

On Monday, December 05, 2011, Police Officer Christopher King was sworn in by Chief Maggard in the Conference and Training Center.  Officer King graduated from the Orange County Sheriff’s Basic Academy Thursday December 1st.  The graduation was attended by Deputy Chief Noble, Lieutenant Allan, Sergeant Egan and Officer Casas. 

 

Officer King has been working as a Public Safety Assistant at the Great Park for the last year while at the same time, preparing for the academy.

 

Prior to working for the Irvine Police Department Officer King worked as an intern for the United States Marshals Service, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department Police Cadet, and as a Loss Prevention Agent for Target Corporation. Officer King holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of California, Irvine, one in Criminology, Law and Society and the other in Psychology and Social Behavior. 

 

Police Recruit King will be begin a two-week structured orientation process before starting the Field Training Program in late December.  Officer King’s family stayed after the ceremony for their own orientation time with Program Specialist Jade Mazzio and Lieutenant Tom Allan who each take time with newly hired officers’ families to explain what challenges are ahead for their officer in the Field Training Program and beyond.
