| News Details | Donations to Hermosillo Fire Victims6/23/2009 Our beloved sister city of Hermosillo, Mexico, with which we have shared this special relationship for the past 19 years, was tragically affected by a fire at the ABC daycare facility on June 5, 2009. Approximately 142 children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old were in the facility at the time of the fire. 45 children were killed and an additional 21 children and 3 adults remain hospitalized.
Donations are currently being accepted to assist the victims and their families. If you are interested in making a financial contribution, the following options are available:
1. Shriner's Memorial Hospital for Children in Sacramento – the hospital is accepting donations on behalf of the Hermosillo children currently in their care. Donations may be made over the phone by contacting Mr. Allan Anderson, Shriner’s Director of Development, at (916) 453-2009 or by mailing a check made payable to:

2. Hospital CIMA in Hermosillo, Mexico – the hospital has established a fund to aid the children and family members of the fire. Individuals interested in details or making contributions should contact Hospital CIMA at [52] (662) 259-0900 and ask for Paul Mouritsen, Director General and Chief Executive Officer, or Jesus Mendoza at extension 1005 or 1008, respectively.
3. Hermosillo Fire Relief Fund (c/o the City of Phoenix). Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank branches using account number: 2832588335. All donations will go directly to Hermosillo’s social services agency, Hermosillo DIF or Desarrollo Integral de la Familia.
