The renovated community center also boasts an innovative and resource-efficient design, which reflects the City's commitment to environmental stewardship.  The landscape features drought tolerant plants and recycled rubber mulch.  Other features include insulation made from recycled blue jeans, bamboo and other sustainable flooring, nontoxic paints and shade panels made from recycled water bottles.

This unique facility is anticipated to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, a first for a City of Irvine-owned facility.
