Seeking Citizens to Serve on Child Care Committee!

Representatives will serve as a resource regarding child care issues.

Help shape the future of child care in Irvine by becoming part of the city’s Child Care Committee. The Irvine Community Services Department is accepting applications through December 31, 2005, to fill two vacancies on the Committee. Qualified applicants must be the parent of a child living in Irvine and have some knowledge of the child care field. Applicants must also be willing to commit to a two-year term.

The primary function of the Irvine Child Care Committee is to serve as a resource and to make recommendations to the Community Services Commission for City Council on child care issues. The Irvine Child Care Committee works cooperatively with the city’s Child Care Coordination Office, the Community Services Department, and the Community Development Department to identify child care needs, early care, and education concerns along with promoting the availability of quality, affordable care in the community.

Current items being discussed by the committee include community awareness and education, programming and training for child care providers, and the economic impact of the child care industry on the business sector. Committee meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month from 8:45 - 10:15 a.m.
