Purse/Wallet Thief

Irvine, Orange County Sheriffs and Newport Beach Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying an active purse thief. This suspect has been involved in at least 34 thefts of wallets from office buildings since 2004. He poses as an air-conditioning repairman or other type of worker. The subject often walks into an office building, presents himself as there to check the air conditioning, plumbing, or building structure. He will then take wallets from purses in desks and office cubicles. The crimes have occurred in office buildings in Irvine, Newport Beach, Aliso Viejo, Lake Forest, San Juan Capistrano, and San Clemente close to the 5 and 405 freeways.

SUSPECT: Male White or Persian, 45-50, balding with short hair on the side, pot belly, clean shaven (but has had a mustache in the past).

VEHICLE: 1999-2005 White Ford F150 extra-cab pickup with tool chest in the rear. The pickup truck has a decal on the side and possible yellow stripes.
