The City of Irvine appreciates the service of the following honoree:
| Wall of Recognition | | | Jan Pond | | | Distinguished Citizen | | | Jean Pond was the founder and Executive Director of Adult Careers, Inc., a non-profit that helped find employment for more than 6,000 persons over age 55. Known as a senior advocate, Jean was referred to as a "diminutive dynamo", and called herself not old, but rather a valuable antique! Pond was a vocal advocate for seniors, encouraging them to stay employed and learn about technology. She also spoke out against elder abuse, serving on numerous boards and commissions in Irvine and throughout Orange County. She urged seniors everywhere to enjoy what she called the "bonus years", the extra years older people were not always expected to live. |
