The City of Irvine appreciates the service of the following honoree:
Wall of Recognition | | Diana "DeeDee" Kimlin | | Distinguished Citizen | | Diana "DeeDee" Kimlin makes a significant contribution for the betterment of seniors in the City of Irvine. Since 2001, she has served on the Executive Board of the Friends of Outreach, including Chair of Fundraising, Friendship Corner and Treasurer for these nonprofit senior organizations. She leads the Friends of Outreach Bingo Team, and supports the combined efforts of Friends of Outreach fundraising activities for the Citys in-home care program, which has raised over $100,000 since 1990. Additionally, she is instrumental in developing positive relationships with the Irvine business community by engaging local merchants to support senior programs through volunteerism and monetary support. At the weekly bingo program, Mrs. Kimlin creates a welcoming, fun climate for 80 seniors whom she treats with kindness and thoughtfulness. She also initiated a recycling program, which raises additional funds and engages the community in a group effort to support seniors and environmental causes. She recognizes special occasions and reaches out to seniors facing health or other life challenges in a compassionate and caring manner. Her talents are evident in her artful, themed presentation of refreshments and decorations, making every event she supports a special occasion. Mrs. Kimlin is equally committed to her family and her faith. She assists her daughter who has a disability, and is very involved with her teenage granddaughters lives, supporting their school and athletic activities. She and her husband Newell are very active at Mariners Church, serving as leaders in the married couples group. |
