The City of Irvine appreciates the service of the following honoree:
| Wall of Recognition | | | Michael OConnell | | | Distinguished Citizen | | | Michael OConnell for his vision and stewardship of the Irvine Ranch Conservancy that manages 50,000 acres of permanently protected wildlands and parks on the historic Irvine Ranch, including Irvines vast open space reserve. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Society for Conservation Biology, and the Advisory Board of the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at UC Santa Barbara. He is currently on the Deans Leadership Council for the School of Biological Sciences at UC Irvine. He is also a co-author of two books and numerous articles for scientific, technical and popular media. |
