FOR Families - FAQs

Q: Does FOR Families provide financial assistance?

A: FOR Families is a link between the need and the solution. If you are in need of financial assistance we can offer a consultation either by phone or in person in order to better assess your needs and provide referrals to agencies we believe might be able to assist you.

Q: Does FOR Families provide therapy?

A: FOR Families has an in-house list of therapist resources for referring program participants.  These clinicians have been screened by FOR Families staff prior to being placed on the list.

Q: Are walk-ins available?

A: Appointments are preferred to ensure staff availability.

Q: How much do services cost?

A: Services are free to those living or working in the City of Irvine.

Q: What if your program hours do not work for me?

A: FOR Families staff strives to make appropriate accommodations.  If you are in need of a consultation appointment, one may be provided by phone if you are not able to come into the office during normal business hours.  If face-to-face consultation is preferred, it will be provided based upon staff availability.

Q: What happens during a consultation and how long does it take?

A: Normally an individual consultation takes about 1 hour, depending on the issue.  We first assess your needs and work together to develop a practical action plan by providing you referrals to local community agencies.

Q: What will I be asked when calling for an appointment?

A: When calling for an appointment, staff will complete an intake over the phone asking you to describe your concerns/needs in order to have a better idea of the type of resources you will need when you come in for your consultation.

Q: What happens after the consultation?

A: Participants are encouraged to follow-up with FOR Families staff after making contact with the referrals provided to ensure that the resources were helpful. Otherwise, staff will contact you usually within a week after the consultation to see if you need additional resources.

Q: Do you have a website?

A: Yes, you may visit us on the web at www.irvineforfamilies.org
